ENG vs NZ: Did not play any test for 2 years, now opened his claws as soon as he returned, this bowler wreaked havoc on the Kiwi team

June 5, 2026 by Uma Shankar

ENG vs NZ 1st Test: The first Test match between England and New Zealand at the historic ground of Lord’s has so far been entirely in the name of the bowlers. On the very first day of the match, the batsmen of both the teams surrendered and by the end of the day’s play, a total of 16 wickets had fallen. After losing the toss and coming to bat first, the England team was bundled out for just 140 runs, after which it seemed that the Kiwi team would have a strong hold on the match. But after this, the English bowlers, especially Olly Robinson, who is returning to the Test team, wreaked such havoc that the New Zealand team also came on the back foot. At the beginning of the second day, England also defeated New Zealand cheaply.

Olly Robinson wreaked havoc

Even though England scored 140 runs in the first innings, this score looked like a mountain in front of Olly Robinson’s bowling. The New Zealand team must have hoped that they would get a big lead in the first innings. But England’s fast bowler Olly Robinson had different intentions. In his comeback match, he bowled such a sensational over which broke the back of the Kiwi team. In the very over of his spell, Robinson showed the way to the pavilion in 4 balls to Devon Conway, Kane Williamson and Rachin Ravindra. After which the New Zealand team could not make a comeback.

Olly Robinson bowled a total of 10.5 overs in this innings and took 5 wickets for 39 runs. Due to which the New Zealand team was all out after scoring 113 runs in the first innings and the England team managed to gain a lead of 27 runs. Apart from Olly Robinson, Josh Tong also bowled brilliantly and took 3 wickets. Apart from him, Gus Atkinson also managed to achieve 2 successes in his name.

Kyle Jamieson also opened his claws

Earlier, Kyle Jamieson shone during England’s first innings. Kiwi fast bowler Kyle Jamieson, who was returning after injury, did not give any chance to the English batsmen to stay at the crease. Jamieson bowled brilliantly and took 5 wickets for 62 runs. In such a situation, the second innings of this match is going to be very exciting. At present the competition seems to be equal.
