‘Don’t just want to play…’ Got entry in Team India, now Vaibhav Suryavanshi told his goal of 10-20 years

June 7, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Vaibhav Suryavanshi has entered Team India. Playing for Rajasthan Royals, this 15-year-old young batsman made fours, sixes, runs and records with his batting in the IPL 2026 season. He has got his reward in the form of selection in Team India. Vaibhav has been selected in the T20 team for the tour of Ireland and England, while he will also participate in the Asian Games 2026. In this way, he has become the youngest player to join Team India, but Vaibhav’s goal is not just to join the team, but he wants to rule with his performance for the next 10-20 years.

On Saturday, June 6, the selection committee of BCCI announced Team India for different series, in which apart from the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, the selection of Vaibhav Suryavanshi was the most talked about. A day after this announcement, Vaibhav’s IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals posted an interview with him, in which team manager Romi Bhinder was asking him different questions. Although this interview was before his selection, everything in it was related to his future.

The aim is to rule for 10-20 years

When Vaibhav was asked what are his goals in Team India, Vaibhav said that he wants to play for Team India in all three formats and want to dominate for years. Expressing his intentions, Vaibhav said that he not only wants to come and play in Team India but also wants to stay for 10-20 years and score a lot of runs and maintain his dominance. That means Vaibhav wants to do what Sachin Tendulkar did for the next two decades at almost his age.

Vaibhav wants to play in all three formats

Not only this, Vaibhav also made it clear that he does not want to remain in just one format and one type of player. The 15-year-old opener told that his wish and goal is to play all three formats of cricket. Especially Vaibhav laid a lot of emphasis on playing red ball cricket and told that he practices a lot for it and has also played in this format for his state Bihar. Giving a glimpse of his understanding of batting, Vaibhav said that he does not want to bat in just one style. He said that due to the need of T20, he hits sixes and fours but he would prefer to bat according to the different conditions of Test and ODI formats.
