Senior leaders’ hopes dashed

Shivkumar will take charge of the remaining departments. Earlier in the day, several important meetings were held between Shivakumar, Ramalinga Reddy and Krishna Byre Gowda at Vidhana Soudha. These meetings took place at a time when there was talk that Reddy was not happy with the portfolio he got. According to sources, the senior Congress leader was hopeful that he would get the portfolio of Bengaluru Development, but this department has been handed over to Gowda. Food and Civil Supplies, Consumer Affairs and Large and Heavy Industries, Infrastructure Development departments have been found. These are the same departments which he also handled in the Siddaramaiah-led government.

Late night on 5th June, D.K. The newly sworn-in ministers of the Shivakumar-led Karnataka cabinet were handed over their portfolios. Before this, there were talks for several hours and an atmosphere of resentment remained between some ministers. Shivakumar has kept the Finance portfolio with himself and has given up the most controversial and prestigious ‘Bengaluru Development’ portfolio, which he held as Deputy Chief Minister. This department has now been handed over to Krishna Byre Gowda. Senior minister and eight-time MLA Ramalinga Reddy, who had demanded this department, has been given the ‘Major and Medium Irrigation’ department. Angered by this, he had even threatened to resign earlier in the day.
