Senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the NEET-UG paper leak issue. He has expressed concern to the government over incidents of paper leaks or irregularities in NTA examinations in the last eight years. Rajya Sabha MP and Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education Digvijay Singh has written a letter to PM Narendra Modi demanding cancellation of NEET-UG 2026 exam and release of white paper on paper leak issues.
mental state of students
Digvijay Singh said that at a time when lakhs of students are under immense pressure, it is very important to restore their trust in the system. In the letter written to PM Modi, he said that I am writing to tell you a very important thing, which many students have told me in the last few weeks. At a time when the cancellation of NEET-UG 2026 exam has adversely affected the mental health of lakhs of students, a big concern for them is that there is no clear information about how the investigation into the previous paper leaks etc. was done.
lack of data
There is no consolidated public record of the cases related to paper leak as to how many cases were registered, what action was taken by CBI and other agencies and who was arrested. Rumors are spreading due to lack of official information.
Example of NEET-UG 2024 leak
- Sanjeev Kumar alias Mukhiya, the main accused in the NEET-UG 2024 paper leak in Hazaribagh, is reportedly out on bail.
- UGC-NET 2024 was also cancelled. CBI filed its closure report and said that there was no irregularities.
- When Delhi Court asked for written explanation from CBI, CBI asked for more time. This is sending a wrong message to the students.
What is the demand?
To bring back the students’ trust in the administration, Digvijay Singh has demanded the government to issue a White Paper. It should have these 2 things:
- Complete list of paper leaks/errors in the examinations conducted by NTA in the last 8 years
- What action was taken by NTA and investigating agencies in every examination, who was arrested – its details
