‘Delhi will suffocate, God save…’ Court raises questions on Centre’s move to evict Indian Polo Association

The Delhi High Court on Monday directed the Patiala House Court to decide on the plea of ​​the Indian Polo Association (IPA) seeking a stay on the Central Government’s notice asking it to vacate its place citing public welfare.

Justice Neena Bansal Krishna disposed of the IPA’s petition, but questioned the Central Government’s Standing Council on the eviction notice. During the hearing the court Central government Told the lawyer, this has been going on for years. Only you know what you want to make of Delhi.

When the Centre’s lawyer justified the action and said that the decision to evacuate was for the welfare of the people, the court said that the people of Delhi should go to some small mountain and stay there. Delhi will not be left for us. This is one small lung we have and you want to snatch that away too. Snatch it away. Make sure that people do not come to Delhi. Building all tall buildings, is it in the public interest? We have only tall buildings everywhere.

The court further said that NDMC, go to any colony, we have 20 storey houses. Every colony has been demolished. If you want Delhi to remain like this then God save us all.

High Court angry about Lutyens Zone

The Centre’s counsel said that with the increase in population, there is a need for land and the government will have to work only from limited space. On this the court said that you are powerful but Delhi will suffocate. The court disposed of the petition by directing the Patiala House Court to hear the stay application on Wednesday.
