
Delhi government is continuously working for the development of the national capital. On Monday (June 8), Chief Minister of the state Rekha Gupta laid the foundation stone of a road and drainage project costing Rs 75.40 crore in A-Block of Wazirpur Industrial Area. Many important people including Wazirpur MLA Poonam Sharma were present on this occasion.
It is being told that under this project, about 5.77 km long roads of the area will be redeveloped. Along with this, 11.54 km long storm water drainage network will be constructed and improved. This will help in reducing the problem of waterlogging and improving the basic facilities of the area. The project work will be done by Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC).
Launch of ambitious project
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that Wazirpur Industrial Area is one of the major industrial centers of Delhi, where thousands of industries and business establishments operate. He said that for a long time the problems of dilapidated roads, damaged drains, waterlogging and lack of basic facilities were emerging in the area. Delhi government has started this ambitious project for a permanent solution to these problems.
There will be no need to dig roads again and again
He said that this project is not limited to only road and drain construction. He said that at present the biggest problem in industrial areas is the chaos caused by frequent road cutting and different works by different agencies. He said that after the development of underground utility ducts, there will be no need to dig roads again and again for maintenance and expansion of various services, which will save both time and resources.
Will get relief from the problem of waterlogging
CM said that the problem of waterlogging during monsoon becomes a serious challenge for both industries and local citizens. He said that the modern storm water drainage system to be developed under this project will improve rain water drainage and ensure a permanent solution to the problem of waterlogging. He said that the Delhi government is committed to taking industrial development and environmental protection together. Under this approach, special importance has also been given to tree plantation and landscaping in the project, so that the area can be made more clean, green and pollution-free.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the aim of the Delhi government is to make all the industrial areas of the capital modern, clean, safe and equipped with world class facilities. Better roads, effective drainage systems and well-organized infrastructure will not only increase the efficiency of industries but will also create new opportunities for investment and employment. He expressed confidence that after the completion of the project, Wazirpur Industrial Area will be among the most modern and well-organized industrial areas of the capital and it will also be established as a model for other industrial areas.
CM congratulated the people associated with the project
On this occasion, the CM congratulated the officers, engineers and technical experts associated with the project and gave instructions to ensure timely and quality work. He said that the Delhi government is continuously working to realize the resolve of a developed Delhi. He said that in the coming time, similar development projects will be given impetus in different areas of the capital.
Gifts worth more than Rs 200 crore till now
CM said that till now an amount of more than Rs 200 crore has been sanctioned for various development works in Wazirpur assembly constituency. Referring to the Chhath Ghat project, he said that a modern Chhath Ghat is being developed at a cost of about Rs 40 crore on the banks of the canal from Indralok metro station to Haiderpur. Besides, construction of two important bridges of the area has also been included in the project, due to which both its cost and scope have been increased. He said that this year on Chhath festival the devotees will get the facility of a clean, grand and well-maintained ghat.
Target of establishing 100 Atal canteens
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the Delhi government has set a target of setting up 100 Atal canteens across the city, out of which two have been started in Wazirpur assembly constituency. He said that quality and wholesome food is being provided in these canteens for just Rs 5. He informed that five Ayushman Arogya Mandirs have been established in the area, where primary health services will be available to the people so that the dependence on big hospitals for minor diseases can be reduced.
