
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday, along with Union Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav and Union Minister Kirti Vardhan Singh, participated in a grand program organized at ‘NaMo Oxygen Park’ in Maidangarhi on the occasion of World Environment Day. In this program, new environmental initiatives of Delhi Government based on environment protection, green development and public participation were launched. Delhi Environment and Forest and Wildlife Minister Sardar Manjinder Singh Sirsa, South Delhi MP Ramveer Singh Bidhuri, Chhatarpur MLA Kartar Singh Tanwar and other dignitaries were present in this program.
The program started with the plantation of saplings by the distinguished guests at Namo Oxygen Park. On this occasion, Union Ministers and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta Also digitally inaugurated 18 Namo Oxygen Parks developed in different areas of Delhi.
This initiative is an important step towards increasing green area in the capital, reducing air pollution and connecting people with nature. According to the plan of Delhi Government, a total area of 185.42 acres under these 18 parks will be developed as green zone. A large number of trees are being planted under this campaign.
100 ‘NaMo Oxygen Parks’ will be built in Delhi
On this occasion, the Chief Minister informed that these Namo Oxygen Parks are different from normal parks, because here only indigenous and environmentally beneficial species like Peepal, Banyan, Jamun and Mango are being given priority. These trees will provide more oxygen as well as enrich the local biodiversity and natural habitat of birds. The government aims to develop 100 such oxygen parks across Delhi.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Ek Ped Maa Ka Naam campaign, the Chief Minister said that if every citizen takes responsibility by planting a tree, then it is possible to make Delhi green and pollution-free.
On this occasion, Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav said that this program organized at Namo Oxygen Park in Maidangarhi is an important step towards expanding urban green area in Delhi, improving air quality and promoting public participation in environmental protection.
Emphasis on building clean and healthy Delhi
On this occasion, Delhi’s Environment and Forest and Wildlife Minister Sardar Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that on the historic occasion of World Environment Day, the objective of this initiative is to expand green cover through public participation, promote clean environment and create a healthy Delhi.
During the event, three very important scientific and policy documents and books were released for long-term strengthening of Delhi’s ecosystem. The Chief Minister described these documents as a roadmap to decide the direction of Delhi’s golden and environment-friendly future.
In the program, civil society organizations, environmentalists and bird experts who made their valuable contribution in bringing the Delhi Bird Atlas to life were honored on the stage. During the function, the guests took a detailed tour of a special exhibition based on the theme of Dust-Free Delhi campaign. In this exhibition, state-of-the-art technologies and government initiatives related to Delhi’s local (indigenous) trees, medicinal bushes and dust control were displayed.
