
Uttar Pradesh Governor and Chancellor Anandiben Patel has given strict instructions to set up a special cell to stop religious conversion in all the medical institutes of the state. Taking seriously the recent cases of alleged conversion in King George’s Medical University (KGMU) and Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), the Governor has taken this important step.
On the basis of the letter of Dr. Sudhir M. Bobde, Officer on Special Duty to the Governor, Vice Chancellor of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University, Dr. Amit Devgan has issued instructions to all the affiliated medical and dental colleges to immediately constitute anti-conversion cell. The university administration has asked all the colleges to provide information about cell formation soon. Role and responsibilities of the cell, this special cell will do important work.
What will the cell do?
Conducting awareness campaigns among students, resident doctors and staff, keeping a vigilant eye on any suspicious activity, ensuring safe and healthy environment in the academic campus, taking immediate action on complaints received as per rules, giving information about rules, rights and responsibilities. Following the instructions of the Governor, preparations have been intensified to further tighten the monitoring system in medical institutes across the state.
