
Fake Medicine Scam: CBI has exposed a huge network of corruption in the fake medicine case worth Rs 5000 crore. This has been revealed in the FIR and remand note of the investigating agency. CBI had recently arrested Delhi Police Crime Branch Inspector Pradeep Kumar Singh and his alleged associate Rajkumar alias Madanraj. This has been revealed in the FIR in that case.
It is alleged that both of them had made a bribe deal worth crores of rupees in the name of providing relief to the main accused in the fake medicine scam of Puducherry in the CBI investigation. According to the FIR and remand note, the main accused in the fake medicine racket is N. Several cases are under investigation in the CBI against Raja alias Valliappan alias Rajasekhar.
Rs 3 crore sent through Hawala
It is alleged that Delhi Police Inspector Pradeep Singh, Rajkumar and others prepared an alleged setting to get benefits in these cases. The accused was assured that the investigation could be facilitated by using his alleged influence on influential government officials and CBI officials. Investigation revealed that a bribe of ₹ 3 crore was demanded for this alleged deal, whereas an advance of ₹ 1.5 crore was said to be given. According to the FIR, accused N. Raja started arranging this amount and arranged to send ₹1 crore to Delhi through Hawala.
CBI told the court that an amount of Rs 1 crore was transferred through Hawala channel. It is alleged that Inspector Pradeep Singh received this amount, out of which Rs 50 lakh was given to another person Prabhat, while Rs 25 lakh was kept with himself. Later, during the operation, Pradeep Singh and Rajkumar were caught with cash worth Rs 24.70 lakh.
According to CBI, on May 14, N. The king, the prince and others were arranged to meet a senior government official. That officer had reportedly given assurance of taking favorable action in the CBI investigation. In the documents presented in the court, CBI claimed that during the investigation, the officer was identified as a senior officer posted in Delhi.
Court gave permission to send remand
On June 9, both the accused were presented in Rouse Avenue Court. The CBI sought seven-day police remand from the court and said that the interrogation is necessary to identify other government officials involved in the case, to examine the complete trail of the bribe amount and digital evidence. Considering the arguments of CBI, the court sent both the accused to police custody for one day.
On the other hand, Inspector Pradeep Singh claimed in the court that he has been falsely implicated and he did not ask for bribe from anyone. The defense opposed the police remand, but the court gave custody to the CBI considering the need for investigation. It is noteworthy that this fake medicine scam of Puducherry is considered to be one of the biggest pharma fraud cases in the country. According to the investigating agencies, fake and spurious medicines were being manufactured and supplied on a large scale through this network. Now CBI is trying to find out who else were involved in this game of bribery to save the accused and influence the investigation.
