After the West Bengal Assembly elections, the troubles of Trinamool Congress are not decreasing. On Saturday, Kailash Mishra, close to Trinamool Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee and president of Howrah Sadar Trinamool Youth Congress, was arrested by Howrah City Police. Police arrested Kailash Mishra from Bihar. He has been arrested on several charges including extortion and assault. Kailash Mishra was absconding after the defeat in the assembly elections.
Kailash Mishra had contested from Bali seat in the 26th assembly elections. He lost to BJP’s Sanjay Kumar Singh by about 12,000 votes. He was absconding since the results were declared on May 4. On Saturday, a team of Howrah City Police arrested him. Bihar Kailash Mishra in Madhubani district of Arrested from a relative’s house. Howrah City Police had raided the house of Kailash Mishra’s relative after getting a tip from a secret source.
Kailash Mishra is close to Abhishek Banerjee
Kailash Mishra was known as the heavyweight Trinamool leader of Howrah Sadar. He is considered close to Abhishek Banerjee. The police have initiated a case against him under various non-bailable sections including extortion, assault, obstruction in government work and intimidation. According to police sources, Kailash Mishra will be presented in a court of Bihar on Sunday. Then he will be brought to Howrah on transit remand on Monday.
After the assembly elections, stories of Trinamool leaders are coming to light one after the other. Money has been recovered from the homes of some people and from the jute fields of some people. Police are arresting Trinamool leaders in different parts of the state on various charges including extortion.
Former MLA Sujoy Hazra also arrested
Meanwhile, former Trinamool MLA from Medinipur Sujoy Hazra was arrested today. Sources said that he has been arrested in a land scam case. Sujoy Hazra was arrested by the police of Shalbani police station.
It has been learned that the former Trinamool MLA was trying to escape on Saturday after hiding for several days. The police were keeping an eye on his movements. Shalbani police station arrested him from Kharagpur station on Saturday.
