BJP has suffered a big setback in Punjab. Former IAS and party general secretary Dr. Jagmohan Singh Raju has resigned from his organizational post. On June 5, he sent a letter to Organization General Secretary Manthari Srinivasulu requesting him to relieve him of major organizational responsibilities. Raju has also sent a copy of the letter to state BJP President Kewal Singh Dhillon.
In his resignation letter, Dr. Jagmohan Singh Raju has said that during the last four years he served as Vice President and General Secretary in BJP and this period was one of the most important journeys of his political career. He said that now he wants to spend more time on many important public interest issues related to Punjab and the country.
These issues were given priority
In his letter, Raju has given the status of holy city to Amritsar, educational assistance to the youth of Punjab, protection of rights of poor children under the Right to Education Act, protection of constitutional rights of Scheduled Castes and Sikh community, religious conversion, drug problem, preservation of Punjabi language and pending issues related to Punjab and Chandigarh as his priorities.

‘It will be difficult to handle the responsibility’
He said that there is a need to conduct extensive public relations, research, writing, legal initiatives and public awareness programs on these subjects. In such a situation, it will not be possible to devote full time to these issues while handling the huge responsibility of the organization. For this reason he has requested to be relieved from organizational responsibilities.
He said that all these subjects are very important for the future of Punjab and the country. That’s why he now wants to spend more time on these issues. He said that for this they are planning to contact people, research, write, legal fight and run awareness campaigns. He said that these tasks would require more time, frequent traveling and being completely active. In such a situation, it may be difficult for them to carry out any big organizational responsibility with the same dedication and effectively.
Increased stir in Punjab BJP
Raju’s resignation is being linked to the growing discontent within the party. Because Raju was also in the race for Pradhan. However, he did not give any statement regarding his displeasure. In fact, among the leaders whose names were in discussion for the post of state BJP president, Jagmohan Raju’s name was also prominently included. However, the party high command appointed Keval Singh Dhillon as the state president. Raju’s resignation has come at a time when former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has also publicly raised questions regarding the appointment of the state president.
