
Samajwadi Party leader Mohammad Azam Khan did not get relief from the Sessions Court in the famous ‘Tankhaiyya’ statement case of 2019. Special Judge of MP-MLA Court Dr. Vijay Kumar rejected his appeal against the decision of the lower court. The court has upheld the conviction and sentence awarded by the lower court. The matter is related to the election meeting organized in village Mankara of Bhot police station area during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. It is alleged that during the meeting, Azam Khan had allegedly made derogatory and derogatory statements regarding the officers.
In this case, a case was registered on the complaint of the then Sub-District Magistrate (SDM) Ghanshyam Tripathi. The lower court had sentenced Mohammad Azam Khan to two years’ imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5,000 under the relevant sections. After hearing the appeal, the Sessions Court upheld the decision of the lower court and dismissed the appeal. Azam Khan is the only accused in this case. Giving information about the case, advocate Seema Rana (AGDC) said that the Sessions Court has rejected the appeal and upheld the decision of the lower court.
What is the whole matter?
This incident is related to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, when Azam Khan was contesting on Samajwadi Party ticket from Rampur constituency. During an election rally in Bhot area, he had allegedly made controversial remarks against district administration officials, including the then District Magistrate, after which his speech went viral on social media. In his speech, he addressed the District Magistrate as ‘tankhaiya’ (salaried employee) and appealed to the people to fear him. He had also said that after winning the election, he would get the officer’s shoes cleaned.
Azam Khan is accused in many cases
However, this is not the first case in which Azam Khan has been held guilty. In the last few years, several cases have been registered against him, including allegations of land grabbing, forgery of documents, election crimes and disputes with administrative officials. Also, he has been convicted in many cases before. At present Azam Khan is in jail, while many cases are pending against him in various courts.
