In the 2015 Bahibalkalan firing case in Faridkot, Punjab, the troubles of Shiromani Akali Dal chief and former Deputy Chief Minister of the state Sukhbir Singh Badal seem to be increasing. After the important statement of former Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Raghubir Singh in front of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the police firing, legal and political problems may increase for Sukhbir Singh Badal.
Former Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh has recorded his statement before the SIT on Thursday, in which he made many important revelations. Sources say that Raghbir Singh claimed that during his appearance before Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Sukhbir Singh Badal had accepted his responsibility related to the Bahibalkalan firing incident. He said that this confession took place in public before Shri Akal Takht Sahib and its video recording was also made, which is currently safely present in the records of Akal Takht.
‘Bullets were fired on unarmed and innocent people’
Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh said in his statement that bullets were fired on unarmed and innocent people protesting peacefully in Bahibalkalan as part of a conspiracy. He said that this barbaric incident of firing had deeply hurt the sentiments of the entire Sikh community and it is very important for the truth to come out in this matter.
According to sources, the SIT can now examine the statement given by Giani Raghbir Singh and other evidence including the video recording present in Shri Akal Takht. If these claims are confirmed in the investigation, then legal and political challenges may increase for Sukhbir Singh Badal.
