Due to the decision of the Electricity Department in Uttar Pradesh, Energy Minister A.K. Sharma became very angry. Expressing his displeasure, he wrote a letter to UPPCL Chairman Ashish Goyal. He also asked questions in the letter. The minister wrote, why did electricity become expensive without informing? He also expressed anger over imposition of 10% FPPAS in the bills of June 2026. A. Of. Sharma sarcastically said that I get to know about the decisions of the department from TV channels. He alleged that this is a sheer attempt to tarnish the image of the government. He also raised questions on the chairman’s working style and absence from the headquarters. He also asked questions on the removal of experienced employees. He said that negligence in the electricity system is against public interest.
In the matter of imposing fuel surcharge on electricity bill, UPPCL has sought reply to the notice of the Regulatory Commission. The Regulatory Commission had sought a reply within a week, terming the 10% fuel surcharge illegal. Now, after a week has passed, the Regulatory Commission has given notice again. UPPCL has again issued a notice to the Managing Director and sought his reply by June 19. An order was issued to collect 10% fuel surcharge from electricity consumers in the month of June. A petition was filed against the order in UP Electricity Consumer Council.
