Now Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Through a letter, Rahul Gandhi has demanded accountability for the police action against students at Jantar Mantar on July 20.
In the letter, he has raised many questions regarding the use of force against the protesters, use of pellet guns and the officers responsible for the action. Rahul Gandhi shared this letter on social media platform ‘X’ on Sunday. Raising questions on the incidents, he asked who had given the order to take action against the students. In the letter, Gandhi said that the students were protesting peacefully to demand a fair and accountable education system.
Rahul Gandhi made many allegations
However, instead of listening to their complaints, the security forces allegedly used indiscriminate force. He alleged that tear gas and pellet guns were used during the operation, due to which hundreds of students were injured. Furthermore, he claimed that the policemen assaulted the girl students and deliberately targeted their private parts.

Rahul Gandhi said that peaceful protests are very important in any democracy. He wrote that it is the responsibility of the government to ensure the safety of the protesters and resolve their grievances through talks.

He further said that such barbaric violence violates all rules and has caused outrage in the country. Youth and students, who are considered the future of the country, are demanding answers and accountability. His voice will definitely be heard.

- As Home Minister, did you approve the use of lethal force, including pellet guns, against students? If not, then who gave it?
- The people seen lathicharge on students in plain clothes, are they policemen or volunteers? Who ordered their deployment?
Questions raised on the use of pellet guns
Rahul Gandhi claimed in a letter to Shah that in the reports appearing on media and social media, pictures and videos of people seriously injured by pellet guns are visible. Giving the example of a 19-year-old student named Sahil, he wrote that due to pellet gun injury, this young man is in danger of losing the vision in one eye. Rahul wrote that the security forces deployed in Delhi ultimately work on his orders.
