Maulana Jarjis Ansari is again in controversy regarding his statement. Maulana Jarjis Ansari has a long association with controversial statements. This time Jarjis Ansari has called Shri Krishna a Muslim. A video of a speech by Maulana Jarjis Ansari went viral on social media in which he was claiming that Lord Krishna was a Muslim and used to offer namaz five times a day. It is reported that this video is of a religious speech given in Jharkhand on June 23.
Hindu organizations expressed strong objection after the video of Maulana’s statement surfaced on social media on Thursday. Hindu Mahasabha in Lucknow Maulana Jarjis Ansari Protested by trampling the pictures with their feet and filed a complaint at Hazratganj police station demanding an FIR.
Ayodhya saint Vishnu Das condemned the statement and announced a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh for anyone who cuts the tongue of Maulana Jarjis Ansari.
Know who is Maulana Jarjis Ansari
Maulana Jarjis Ansari is a controversial Islamic cleric and hails from Etawah district of Uttar Pradesh. He is known to deliver religious sermons (Takrir) in different states and on different digital platforms, which often raises major social and legal controversies. Ansari’s speeches are available online on many YouTube channels.
Maulana Jarjis Ansari has been accused of rape in the year 2022. He has been in controversies in the past due to his statements regarding Scheduled Castes and women and in some cases action has also been taken against him. Currently, the video of his statement on Shri Krishna is going viral on social media.
What statement has Jargis Ansari given on Shri Krishna?
Jarjis Ansari cited a verse from the Bhagavad Gita — “Yogi yunjita sataman atmanam rahasi stithah, ekaki yat-cittatma nirshir aparigraha” — and claimed that it instructed devotees to worship with “the whole body,” arguing that Lord Krishna himself offered namaz five times a day.
Before reading the verse, Ansari said, “If our brothers have no problem, then Krishna also used to offer Namaz five times a day. If you do not believe, then see the 10th verse of the sixth chapter of Sri Bhagavad Gita.”
He further claimed that if Hindus read their scriptures carefully, they would “fall in love with Islam”, adding that Islam is a universal religion that was preached not only by Prophet Muhammad but also by Lord Rama and Lord Krishna.
He said, “If these Hindu Muslims read his books… then believe me they will start loving Islam, because Islam is the religion of the world. It is not the religion of Muslims. Ramchandra ji has also told this to be the same religion. Krishna ji has also told this.”
Experts called Ansari’s claim wrong
However, experts say that Maulana has misinterpreted the verse of Gita. There is no mention of Namaz or Islam anywhere in the verse.
This verse is from Chapter 6, Verse 10 of Bhagavad Gita. Its real meaning is that a yogi should constantly focus his mind, body and soul on God. One should meditate alone, control the mind and senses, and free oneself from desires and attachments.
Ansari has been in controversies before also
Ansari has been in controversies before also. In 2022, a video of Maulvi Ansari went viral in which he claimed that a Muslim woman should not, under any circumstances, go into labor. Even during pregnancy, one should not deny one’s sexual desires.
In the video, Ansari said, “O Muslim woman! If you do not allow your husband to take advantage of your body (sexually), then you are committing a huge crime.” Referring to what he described as the Prophet’s command, he said, “Even if you are about to give birth to a child, you will have to fulfill the wishes of your husband.”
The Maulvi was also convicted in a rape case. In September 2022, a fast-track court in Varanasi sentenced Ansari to 10 years in prison in a 2016 case. This case was of raping a woman on the pretext of marriage and then blackmailing her. The court had also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000. Ansari had challenged this order in Allahabad High Court and currently the matter is under consideration.
