Lata Gupta was born in a distinguished advocate and nationalist Sangh family in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh. Lata Gupta’s contribution at the local body level has also been notable. She was a municipal councilor from Shakarpur ward from 2007 to 2012 and from Pandav Nagar ward from 2012 to 2017. Lata Gupta also has the distinction of becoming the first woman Chairperson of the Standing Committee of Delhi Municipal Corporation. This achievement is considered a historic milestone in the direction of women leadership in the history of Municipal Corporation of Delhi.
