‘Weave the Future 4.0’ organized at Delhi Haat INA, Giriraj Singh told why this initiative is special; Know what’s in the exhibition

DC Handlooms, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India launched ‘Weave The Future 4.0’ at Dilli Haat, INA, showcasing India’s journey towards sustainable and circular textiles. Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh visited the exhibition and spoke about India’s rich craft traditions and their importance in building a sustainable future. This fourth edition brings together over 100 brands, artisans, makers, recyclers, thrift collectives and innovators to offer solutions in upcycling, recycling, repair, repurposing and circular design.

On this occasion Neelam Shami Rao, Secretary, Ministry of Textiles; Development Commissioner (Handloom) Dr. M. Beena; Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Amrit Raj; Thomas McClenaghan, Minister Counselor and Head of Sustainable Modernization of the European Union and other senior representatives of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India were also present.

Emphasis on strengthening circular economy methods

Speaking at the exhibition, Giriraj Singh said, “As textile consumption continues to grow, it is imperative that we strengthen circular economy practices, promote responsible production and scale up adoption of new solutions that can transform textile waste into valuable resources. Initiatives like ‘Weave the Future 4.0’ show how entrepreneurship, innovation and sustainability can come together to create economic opportunity and positive impact on the environment. Are.

It is equally important to ensure that millions of workers, who are considered the backbone of this sector, get a respectable livelihood and better income. India is committed to establishing itself as a global leader in sustainable textiles, which will not only contribute to the country’s progress but also help lead the world towards a more responsible and robust textile ecosystem.

How long will this exhibition last?

An initiative of DC Handlooms, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, ‘Weave the Future 4.0 Upcycling Edition’ is the fourth edition of the platform, which focuses on the relationship between materials, communities and the environment. This exhibition shows how traditional knowledge, responsible use of resources and innovative practices can combine to create sustainable solutions for everyday life. This 6-day exhibition to be held at Dilli Haat, New Delhi from 12 to 17 July 2026 will include more than 100 brands, makers, artisans, recyclers, thrift groups and innovators from across India. Many methods like upcycling, recycling, repair, reuse and circular design will be shown in it. It will be told how things can be changed through creativity and thoughtful actions.

This has become a national platform

Dr. M. Beena, Development Commissioner (Handloom), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, said, “’Weave the Future’ has become a national platform that connects India’s handloom and craft heritage with innovation-based solutions for textile waste management. This edition brings together artisans, students, startups, designers and recycling companies to transform textile waste. Ways to work together can be found to deal with the growing challenge of waste.

This includes methods like upcycling, repair, recycling and circular design, which we Indians have been adopting for generations. The large participation of young entrepreneurs in ‘Weave the Future 4.0’ reflects the growing interest in sustainable consumption and resource efficiency. “It also highlights the importance of creating platforms that promote practical and scale-up solutions, while creating employment and entrepreneurship opportunities across the entire value chain.”

Visitors to ‘Weave the Future 4.0’ can experience a range of activities and exhibitions, including:

• Upcycled and recycled products created by artisans, designers, brands and innovators
• Interactive installation to understand textile waste, material recovery and circularity
• Demos of repair, reuse and recycling
• Workshops and knowledge sharing sessions on sustainable design and craft-based innovation
• Conversations on circular fashion, conscious consumption and regenerative futures

As part of ‘Weave the Future 4.0’, ‘Marammat’ workshop was organized today on 13th July and will be organized again on 17th July in collaboration with ‘Rafooghar’. This practical workshop provides an opportunity to understand the ideas of breakdown, repair and resilience using fabric. Through processes such as cutting, sewing, mending and layering, participants use fabric as a medium to express themselves, think and create change. Embracing irregular threads, raw edges and clean-cut repairs, this workshop encourages taking things slow, taking care and reconnecting with materials, surroundings and oneself. It promotes repair as a process of new beginning rather than reduction.
