Monsoon session of Parliament is going on. In such a situation, all the leaders from party and opposition come to the Parliament to participate in the proceedings of the House. Meanwhile, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi and TMC leader Kalyan Banerjee were seen laughing and joking with each other in the Parliament complex. Mamata Banerjee (Didi) was mainly at the center of political talks between the two. This interesting conversation took place when TMC leaders were protesting against the merger of TMC MPs with the Nationalist Citizens Party of India (NCPI).
Kalyan Banerjee argued that the political presence of Congress in West Bengal was very less. He said, “There was nothing left for Congress in West Bengal. That’s why they came to us. Those who left Congress and joined TMC, never reached Parliament on the Congress symbol.” He also told that he himself had once been the Vice President of Youth Congress.
‘It was you who forced Didi to go out’
Meanwhile, independent MP Pappu Yadav joined the conversation and said, “He was a Congressman then.” Kalyan replied, “We were also Congressmen.” After this, the TMC leader took a jibe at the Congress and said, “It was you who forced Didi to go out. If you had not sidelined Mamata Banerjee, would Congress have been in this condition today?”
What did Priyanka say?
Referring to Congress’s old relationship with the TMC chief, Priyanka Gandhi replied, “Rajiv Gandhi ji used to respect and love Didi a lot.” During the protest, Kalyan Banerjee showed photographs of 20 TMC leaders who had joined the NCPI, saying, “These are the 20 traitors who are now sitting inside the Parliament.” Smiling, Priyanka Gandhi taunted, “Some people first left Congress and joined your party and then joined BJP.”
Kalyan Banerjee is suspended in monsoon session
On July 22, Kalyan Banerjee was suspended from the Lok Sabha for the remaining period of the monsoon session. He was accused of using “indecent” language against women members during a heated debate with NCPI members in the lower house.
