The fourth child has been born to America’s Vice President JD Vance and his wife Usha Vance. Both of them told on social media that their son has been born. The child has been named Alec Neil Vance. With this, JD Vance has become the first American Vice President to become a father while in office after more than 156 years. Alec Neal Vance is the fourth child of JD and Usha Vance. Before this he had three children. The age of the eldest son Ivan is 9 years, the age of the second son Vivek is 6 years and the age of daughter Mirabel is 4 years.
JD Vance and Usha Vance issued a joint statement saying, “We are very happy to announce that this morning our son, Alec Neal Vance, was born.” Both Usha and the child are healthy. Our three children are also very happy with the arrival of their younger brother. The couple thanked the doctors, nurses and entire medical staff at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, as well as the White House medical team.
Vance has expressed concern over the birth rate
41-year-old JD Vance has been expressing concern about the declining birth rate in America for a long time. He had also raised this issue while contesting the Senate elections from Ohio in 2021. After becoming the Vice President, he had said in the March for Life program organized in 2025, I want more children to be born in America.
Vance also said that the murder of his close friend Charlie Kirk in 2025 inspired him to decide to have another child. JD Vance has previously served in the US Marines. His wife Usha and three children have also accompanied him on foreign tours many times. During long night flights, children have been seen many times boarding Air Force Two wearing pajamas.
40 year old Usha Vance is the daughter of immigrant parents of Indian origin. She was in the news ever since her pregnancy was announced in January. In America, it is very rare for a new child to be born in a family while holding a senior position like President or Vice President.
Birth of Vice President Colfax’s son in 1870
Earlier in 1870, during the tenure of then Vice President Shayler Colfax, his son Shayler Colfax III was born. Before that, in 1829, William, son of Vice President John C. Calhoon, was born. This information has been given by the White House Historical Association.
In recent months, children have also been born to several senior Trump administration officials. White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller and his wife Katie Miller recently became parents for the fourth time. Meanwhile, White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt welcomed her second child with her husband Nicholas Riccio in May.
