This scheme has also received the approval of the Central Government. Overall, projects worth about Rs 60 thousand crore have been approved. Before this, he along with Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the Kanpur-Lucknow Expressway in Unnao.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari participated in the program. The inauguration includes construction of Kanpur-Lucknow six-lane expressway and four-lane construction of Hardoi Lucknow National Highway (Package-4) and the foundation stone laying of construction of four-lane flyover at Engineering College intersection.

Previous governments had made UP helpless
CM said that Uttar Pradesh, known as the sick state, is today recognized for its modern infrastructure, good governance and excellent security. Earlier UP was going through an identity crisis. There was neither policy nor intention. The previous governments, with a narrow mindedness, a limited vision of development and a distorted concept of divisive politics, had made Uttar Pradesh riots, curfews and riots.

Uttar Pradesh gets new identity
CM said that the state which could not distinguish between road and pothole, is today leading the way with maximum number of expressways. UP is now operating the largest rail network, metro in most cities and most airports. This is the identity of the new Uttar Pradesh. Expressing gratitude to Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, the Chief Minister said that they continuously guided PM Modi to implement his vision.
PM Modi’s vision was to use the river network as inland waterways. Gadkari ji worked to connect Varanasi to Haldia as the country’s first inland waterway.
SCR will get big benefit
CM said that the country’s first rapid rail has started between Delhi-Meerut. Today, two metropolitan cities of the state, Lucknow and Kanpur, are increasing connectivity through Green Field Expressway. This is part of the effort to establish the State Capital Region (SCR) around Lucknow as the growth engine of India’s economy by connecting the districts of Barabanki, Sitapur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli.
CM said that on April 29, PM Modi had inaugurated the country’s largest Ganga Expressway and on March 28, the country’s largest Jewar Airport was inaugurated. Today we are witnessing the inauguration of the 63 kilometer six-lane Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway connecting the two largest cities of the state. It is actually not just an expressway but a highway opening the way for our progress.
