July 27, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Abhishek Moond And Vasudev Prasad Singh: Under the three decade old historic exchange program of India’s best fast bowling nursery i.e. MRF Pace Foundation and Cricket Australia, two emerging fast bowlers of India have got a memorable experience in Australia. Vasudev Prasad Singh, 20, from Bihar and Abhishek Mund, 18, from Sikar district of Rajasthan, practiced hard for two weeks with the Australian Test team at the National Cricket Center and Allan Border Field in Brisbane, which is a big dream for any young player.

Shared net session with veterans

For Vasudev and Abhishek, who are trying to make their mark on the international stage after emerging from small towns, sharing the nets with world’s top fast bowlers Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood was like a dream come true. According to M Senthilnathan, head coach of MRF Pace Foundation, initially both the young bowlers were nervous seeing such big players around them, but soon they deeply understood the Australian pace culture and their way of practicing.

What was the special experience and learning?

These two Indian players saw how the world number-1 pace trio (Cummins, Starc, Hazlewood) bowls in the nets, plans to bowl long spells and most importantly how they take care of their body. Rajasthan’s Abhishek Mund told Times of India that in Australian conditions, he got the experience of bowling a little fuller instead of his back-of-the-length balls. Bowling to top batsmen has boosted his confidence a lot.

On the other hand, Vasudev Prasad Singh, who has played Under-19 and Under-23 for Bihar, said that the experience he has gained here in bowling long spells in favorable conditions, understanding field settings and making strategies against the batsmen, will prove to be a milestone in his future career. This high-performance exchange program has been running between India and Australia for more than 30 years, which has also played an important role in the development of greats like Javagal Srinath, Zaheer Khan, Glenn McGrath and Brett Lee.
