Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has objected to the fourth point of the Supreme Court order. In this, the Supreme Court has said in the interim order that Delhi-NCT and other states can proceed with the investigation of the FIR registered. However, no strict action will be taken against the protesting students. Still, people with criminal background will not get this protection. Now CJP representatives have objected to this through social media, saying that ‘the interim order passed by the Supreme Court of India in the case of PILs related to CJP protests should ring alarm bells in the entire country. In particular, Instruction No. 4, which allows governments to proceed and investigate existing FIRs, raises very serious concerns’.
CJP says that this instruction is completely contrary to the firm assurance and guarantee given by the Government of India to the youth of the country on July 25, 2026, in which it was said that the FIRs will be withdrawn and no protestor participating in the peaceful movement will be targeted directly or indirectly. On the basis of that firm assurance and with all good intentions, the Cockroach Janata Party had withdrawn its nationwide protest.
Governments can harass protesters
CJP further said that ‘We now have a strong fear that the Government of India and BJP ruled states may use this order of the bench headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and weaponize it to continue filing FIRs against individual protesters and cause them a lot of trouble. Our concern from day one was that the courts could be used directly or indirectly to achieve political objectives by targeting peaceful dissent.
CJP said that what is equally worrying is that the government lawyers did not oppose this interim order, even though the Central Government was fully aware that the talks/assurances with CJP had continued till late last night and a firm agreement had been reached on July 25. Therefore, this order given by the court without information is completely unacceptable. The firm public assurance given to thousands of young students and protesters cannot be quietly weakened, undermined or rendered meaningless by subsequent legal activities. This only breaks public trust.
‘Government should not make excuse for court order’
The CJP says that in any event, there is nothing in the interim order that would prevent the Government of India or the respective BJP/NDA-ruled state governments from withdrawing FIRs or deciding not to take action against peaceful protesters, as the governments of Bihar and Assam have done. The power to withdraw such cases or not to proceed further remains with the executive only. The court has not mandated that governments must proceed definitively on FIRs. To think so would be deliberate misinterpretation. The government should not use the court order as an excuse for retreating from the promise made on July 25.
If the harassment of students at the hands of the police continues, the Cockroach Janta Party will respond with a massive peaceful protest soon.

CJP said, ‘Therefore, we demand that the Government of India and the respective BJP/NDA state governments immediately place the terms of this firm promise in the ongoing proceedings before the Supreme Court, so that complete transparency is maintained about the promises made to the youth of the country and the Court can give a thoughtful order in the future. The youth of India had made this agreement with complete honesty and trust. That trust should not be broken. Institutions of constitutional importance should never be politicized nor should they be used as a weapon for non-fulfillment of guarantees.
Appealed to the government to fulfill its promise
CJP further said that the deadline for the Government of India to fulfill its guarantees is ending today. We once again appeal to him to fulfill every promise he has made. Withdraw the FIR, ensure that no punitive action is taken against any protestor in the future, and honor in letter and spirit the promise that ended the protests. If this does not happen and as already said, the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ will have no other option but to resume nationwide protests for the safety of those students and young protesters.
