The Hundred 2026: Scored 69 runs, also took 2 wickets… Player of the match became the captain, yet how did the team lose?

July 24, 2026 by Uma Shankar

The Hundred 2026: The Hundred 2026 saw an exciting and breath-taking match at the historic ground of Lord’s, known as the Mecca of cricket. Despite Liam Livingston’s tremendous all-round performance, Manchester Super Giants defeated London Spirit by 7 runs. In the last moments of the match, Manchester fast bowlers Gus Atkinson and Sonny Baker bowled brilliantly under pressure and gave their team a memorable victory. But Liam Livingston performed brilliantly with ball and bat and also won the Player of the Match award.

Tim Seifert scored a half century on debut

Manchester Super Giants, who came to bat first after losing the toss, made a brilliant debut for their opener Tim Seifert. Seifert recovered from a slow start and played an explosive inning of 67 runs in 45 balls. However, after this the London Spirit bowlers made a strong comeback. Captain Liam Livingston and Adam Zampa bowled very tightly, taking 2 wickets each, due to which Manchester’s batting fell apart like a pack of cards. Manchester lost 7 wickets in the last 33 runs and the entire team could score only 138 runs in 100 balls.

Liam Livingston’s stormy half-century

London Spirit, which came to chase the target of 139 runs, had a very bad start and lost three important wickets in the first 46 balls. After this, captain Liam Livingston and Dewald Brewis took over the innings and started scoring runs rapidly. Livingstone completed his half-century in just 32 balls. He scored 12 runs in a single over from Noor Ahmed and hit 5 sky-high sixes during his innings of 69 runs in 40 balls. When 56 runs were needed in the last 30 balls, the match was completely tied.

Bowlers counterattack in death overs

At the same time, when London Spirit needed 21 runs to win from the last 10 balls, England’s fast bowler Gus Atkinson changed the course of the match. He broke this partnership by taking a brilliant catch of Dewald Brevis on his own ball. Then London Spirit needed 12 runs in the last 5 balls. Livingston, who had taken a dangerous form, was present on strike, but Sonny Baker bowled Livingston with an accurate and fast ball. As soon as Livingston was out, London Spirit’s hopes were dashed and the entire team could score only 131 runs in 100 balls.
