
During the hearing regarding the investigation of Ram Mandir donation theft case, the Supreme Court refused to monitor the investigation. The court said that a chartered accountant should also be included in the Special Investigation Team (SIT) being formed, so that the investigation can be conducted in a fair, accurate and transparent manner. The Supreme Court said that the SIT is being formed on the basis of the names suggested by the Uttar Pradesh government. This team is being led by S Kiran. Along with him, officers of the level of Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Inspector General (IG) and Superintendent of Police (SP) are also part of the investigation team.
The Chief Justice (CJI) rejected the demand of the petitioner, in which the Supreme Court was requested to monitor the investigation. The court clearly said, “We will not monitor the investigation, but it must be ensured that the investigation is fair, accurate and transparent.” The Supreme Court has directed the SIT to file a status report on the progress of the investigation. The next hearing of the case will be after two weeks.
In the last hearing, the Supreme Court had asked the state government to suggest names of officers for forming the new SIT. The SIT constituted by the UP government has presented the progress report in the court in the last hearing. SG said that the work of formation of SIT from our side is complete.
