Supriya Sule’s statement has come amid discussions about the merger of the two factions of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). Regarding former Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Ajit Pawar, he said that ‘My brother is no longer among us. Therefore, all the discussions going on about my brother or in his name have now come to a complete stop. It has been five months since my brother passed away. Now our family is slowly recovering from this grief. My brother’s last wish was that both the factions of the Nationalist Congress Party should unite and serve the state and the country together.
He said, ‘We were fully prepared to fulfill his last wish. We had the same feeling during Dada’s life and even after his departure, but from the other side no such positive feeling is visible now. Therefore, I and our organization have considered this issue completely closed.
‘Will not compromise with my self-respect’
Supriya Sule further said, ‘On the day Dada passed away, some of our senior leaders mentioned this issue, but the opposite party said that no such thing or any such incident had happened. This caused us immense sorrow and pain. On one hand we had lost our brother and on the other hand we were trying to fulfill his last wish, because this proposal was from my brother himself. For this reason, we ended this topic forever that very day. We are self-respecting people and will not compromise with our self-respect.
Supriya Sule breaks silence on NCP merger
He said, ‘My brother is no longer in this world. The day he passed away and after I saw the statements of the leaders of the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar), it became clear to me that they had no intention of fulfilling Dada’s last wish. That’s why I put a full stop to this topic at that very moment. Since then our entire focus is on serving the state and the country.
‘Don’t trust political gossip’
Supriya Sule’s statement comes amid renewed discussions over a possible merger between the two factions, which had parted ways in 2023 when Ajit Pawar rebelled against his uncle Sharad Pawar and joined the BJP-led coalition government in Maharashtra. However, she avoided commenting directly on the merger speculation and insisted that she did not rely on sources or political gossip. He reiterated that all the 8 NCP (SP) MPs and party MLAs are united under the leadership of Sharad Pawar.
