Sonam Wangchuk, who was on hunger strike for 26 days, broke his fast. After which now some people have raised many questions on him. Some also accused him of making a deal, about which Wangchuk has expressed his displeasure. He says that after being hungry for 26 days, does he need to prove his honesty? Do they need to show character certificate?
Sonam Wangchuk has shared a video from the hospital in which she has clearly said that if she had to deal with the hospital, she would not have remained hungry for 26 days. He asked whether he could not deal while sitting in a luxurious air conditioned room.
‘A deal has to be made and one cannot stay hungry for 26 days’
He said in his video that he is making this video out of sadness, shock and anger. He said that after being hungry for 26 days in the scorching heat, he had lost 11 kg of weight. He asked that even after doing so much, does he need to prove his honesty as to why and by whom the fast was broken? He said that people are telling him that many kinds of questions are being raised against him. He said that if a deal had to be made, he would not have remained hungry for 26 days.
‘The hospital was like a prison’
Sonam Wangchuk told that when she was forcibly taken from Jantar Mantar to Safdarjung Hospital on July 18, it was not just a hospital but a jail and cantonment. He said that he was kept in the hospital in a way that any prisoner might be kept in. He told that there was a ban on everything, not even a bird could be killed, even in his room.
‘I had no right to meet anyone’
Wangchuk told that he did not have the right to meet anyone in the hospital, only three relatives could stay. They had no means of communication. Couldn’t keep mobile and laptop. Couldn’t send any message anywhere. He told that he would write messages on napkins and send them to people, and many times he was caught. He told that those who came to meet him from Ladakh were sent back. He said that all this was illegal, it had become North Korea in a way.

Wangchuk told that even after the order of the High Court, he was not allowed to leave the hospital because he was not given the order. He said that after another strike within the strike, he forcefully came out of the hospital. During this time, Wangchuk has also shared a video while leaving the hospital, in which he is seen having an argument with the police and he is expressing his displeasure at being stopped. During this time he lay down on the ground in anger.
There was strict security in Medanta Hospital also
Wangchuk said that he did not even share this video because he did not want any issue to come on anyone’s job. He said that this is just a small sample and not the entire video. He said that when he went to Medanta Hospital, he came to know that a similar camp was built there too. Policemen were deployed there also. There was a ban on meeting anyone and going out.
