Sawan Shiv Puja: There is not much time left for the holy month of Saavan to begin. According to Drik Panchang, Sawan is starting from 30th July. This month will end with the full moon of Saavan month. Sawan is the month of Shiva devotion. In this month, a huge crowd of devotees is seen in Shiva temples. Devotees worship their God. Kavadiyas perform Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva by bringing water in Kanvad.
Performing Rudrabhishek and Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva in Sawan is especially fruitful. By doing this, Lord Shiva becomes pleased and bestows blessings, but in Sanatan Dharma, special rules are followed during every worship. Lighting a lamp during puja is a very important rule, because no puja is complete without lighting the lamp. According to Skanda Purana, lighting different oil lamps in front of Shivalinga in Sawan brings auspicious results.
Light the lamp of these things in front of Shiva in Saavan
Safflower: Light a safflower oil lamp in front of Shivling during the month of Sawan. By doing this one gets the blessings of Lord Shiva, which increases happiness and prosperity in life.
Flaxseed: According to Skanda Purana, a linseed oil lamp gives the same virtue as safflower oil. Be sure to light a linseed oil lamp in the morning or evening during Sawan. Lord Shiva is pleased with this.
mole: Sesame oil is considered very auspicious. There is a religious belief that lighting a sesame oil lamp provides spiritual knowledge. Also the presence of Lord Shiva is felt. Lighting a sesame oil lamp in Sawan brings happiness in the family.
Ghee: Ghee lamp is considered the best among all lamps. Ghee lamp is very dear to Lord Shiva. In the month of Sawan, perform Aarti of Lord Shiva with ghee lamp in the morning or evening.
Apart from these oils and ghee, the importance of using camphor, agar and incense for worship has also been mentioned in Skanda Purana. Make sure to use these things while worshiping Mahadev in Saavan.
