However, such cases of arrest and deportation of Indians are often reported not only from America but also from Canada, Europe and Arab countries. The Central Government has presented the data related to this in the Parliament.
On July 23, Congress Rajya Sabha MP and Speaker Mallikarjun Kharge asked the government in which countries the maximum number of Indians were caught, detained or deported. On this, Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh, in a written reply on behalf of the Ministry, said that foreign governments generally do not share complete information about Indians living illegally with India.
Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh said that India gets information only about such cases in which the identity of an Indian citizen has to be confirmed or an emergency certificate has to be issued. In such a situation, the figures we have are based on the records available with Indian embassies and consulates.
Not America, is this the country that deports the most Indians?
According to government data, in the year 2025, 7,896 Indians were deported from UAE, 3,500 from America, 1,675 from Malaysia, 1,675 from Myanmar, 1,300 from Cambodia, 535 from Thailand, 464 from Russia, 251 from Hong Kong, 231 from Bangladesh, more than 448 from Canada and 283 from China.
Why are the figures of deportation of Indians high in UAE?
It is worth noting that for the last few years there has been an issue of deportation by America to India. But according to the data given in the Parliament, in this matter, Dubai is deporting twice as many Indians as America every year. Actually, millions of Indians work in UAE. This is the reason why action is seen more in cases related to violation of visa rules, overstay and labor laws.

According to statistics, there was a continuous increase in the cases of deportation of Indians from Dubai. The biggest reason behind this is that compared to other countries, more number of Indians work in Arab countries, especially in Dubai.
Why should the figures of deportation of Indians increase in countries like Malaysia, Myanmar and Cambodia?
A significant increase in cases was also recorded in Malaysia, Myanmar and Cambodia. In fact, in recent years, the number of cases of Indians implicated in cyber fraud and fake job rackets has increased. Countries like Malaysia, Myanmar and Cambodia have been at its center. During rescue operations or actions taken by the Government of India, they are taken into custody and sent to India. This is the reason why there has been a record increase in the cases of deportation of Indians from these small countries also.
The number of Indians deported from Myanmar in the year 2024 was 147, which will now increase to 1596 in the year 2025. Whereas in Cambodia, these cases were 982, which increased to 1300 this year. At the same time, 1259 Indians were deported from Malaysia in the year 2024. At the same time, in the year 2025 this number had increased to 1675. Anyway, more than 1000 Indians are being deported to Malaysia every year.
What do the increasing figures of deportation of Indians indicate?
- Illegal migration of Indians is not limited to America and Europe only. It has reached Gulf countries, South-East Asia and African countries.
- Due to fake job offers, cyber fraud and fake networks, a large number of Indians are getting trapped and reaching abroad illegally.
- The number of deportations of Indians could be many times more than this. Foreign governments do not share information about every arrest or deportation.
How is the government helping Indians stranded abroad?
The government also told in Parliament how it is helping Indians stranded abroad. According to the government, mediums like Indian embassies, 24×7 helpline, official WhatsApp, email, MADAD portal, CPGRAMS, e-Magistrate portal and Pravasi Bharatiya Sahayata Kendra are used to help its citizens.
Apart from this, awareness campaigns are run through the eMigrate portal. It is advised to be cautious of fake recruitment agencies. Migrants are given safe and legal training by the Protector and Immigrants Office. Complaints are sent to the state police to take action against fake recruitment agencies.
