Bihar government has issued a notification and suspended two IAS officers Abhilasha Sharma and Yogesh Kumar Sagar together in a corruption case. Both these bureaucrats had connections with power broker tender mafia Rishu Shri. The ‘secret’ of expensive gifts, outings and foreign trips is no longer a secret. Now this action has been taken on the report of the Special Vigilance Unit.
This whole matter started after the raid at the premises of contractor Rishu Shree. He has already been arrested and sent to jail. The investigation report of ED had revealed that to manage the tender, Rishu Shri used to manage the desired postings in different government departments, from Secretary to Municipal Commissioner.
On the basis of documents and financial transactions revealed in the investigation of the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the process of action against both the officers was expedited. The investigating agencies claim that Rishu Shri, a contractor from Patna, has allegedly been providing various benefits to the above two officers. Not only this, Rishu Shri used to make big IAS officers of the state dance on his fingers.
ED’s investigation revealed that contractor Rishu Shri had arranged for IAS Yogesh Kumar Sagar and his 8 relatives to travel abroad. During this trip from June 22, 2024 to June 30, 2024, Yogesh Kumar Sagar and his family members visited Vienna, Salzberg and Wolfgang in Austria. They stayed in very expensive and luxurious hotels there. A total of Rs 21.92 lakh was spent on this entire air travel and stay in foreign hotels. The entire payment was made by the contractor Rishu Shri from his own pocket.
Who is IAS Yogesh Kumar Sagar?
IAS Yogesh Kumar Sagar is a 2017 batch officer and was posted in the Social Welfare Department before his suspension. Yogesh is originally from Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh. He studied MBBS from King George Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow in the year 2012. There was a time when it was difficult for Yogesh Kumar Sagar’s family to even feed properly. His childhood was spent in very poor and difficult circumstances. Yogesh was born on 15 April 1988 and his father was a constable in the Customs and Central Excise Department.
Who is IAS Abhilasha Sharma?
The second IAS officer to be suspended in this scam is Abhilasha Sharma. Abhilasha was working as CEO of Jeevika in the Rural Development Department. Abhilasha Sharma, IAS of 2014 batch of Bihar cadre, has completed her graduation degree in Electronics and Communication from West Bengal University College of Engineering. He was born on 26 January 1989. She started her career with the Union Home Ministry and has worked on many important posts in the Government of Bihar. Apart from being the DM of Sitamarhi, she has also been the Joint Secretary in the Finance Department.
