Russia and Ukraine are continuously attacking each other’s targets. Moscow said 12 people were killed in Ukrainian attacks on holiday camps in the Russian-occupied Zaporozhye region on Saturday. At the same time, officials of Ukraine’s north-eastern Sumy region said that three people died there in a Russian drone attack. The attacks follow a major Russian attack near Kiev on Friday, which killed at least 10 people and injured nearly 100.
These attacks are part of a series of continuous attacks against each other, due to which there is little hope of a diplomatic solution to Russia’s attack on its neighboring country that has been going on for more than 4 years.
Ukraine’s drone strikes halt Russian military advance
This development has happened at a time when Ukraine’s successful drone attacks have stopped the advance of the Russian army. Kiev has launched attacks on major targets inside Russia, causing fuel shortages and increasing pressure on Russian leader Vladimir Putin. Kremlin-appointed regional head Yevgeny Balitsky said four children were among the 12 killed in the attack on resorts in Zaporizhia. He said that 19 other people were injured.
Ukraine did not immediately comment on this. Sumy regional head Oleh Grihorov said on Saturday that three people died in a massive fire that broke out after a Russian drone hit a civilian settlement. He said those killed were drivers of the private Ukrainian postal and courier service ‘Nova Poshta’.
Launch site for Ukrainian drones attacked
Russia’s Defense Ministry said it attacked a storage and launch site for Ukrainian drones in the Sumy region. In Zaporizhia, south-eastern Ukraine, a Russian drone strike targeted a shopping center late Friday night, causing a fire. Regional head Ivan Fedorov said the fire spread over an area of 500 square meters and several people were injured.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned in his address on Friday evening that intelligence information shows that Russia is preparing missiles for a major attack. He said that there are indications that this attack could happen in the next 48 hours.
Ukraine targeting oil sites

A White House official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said on Saturday that US President Donald Trump and Zelensky are scheduled to meet in Washington on Tuesday. The official gave information about this before the announcement of Trump’s program. Kiev did not immediately comment on the meeting, although Zelensky said in his address on Friday that Kiev is preparing for a meeting with the US President and his team. A memorial service will be held in Washington on Tuesday for the late Senator Lindsey Graham, one of Kiev’s biggest supporters.
Romania shoots down second drone in 2 days
Romania’s Defense Ministry said on Saturday that its forces safely shot down a drone that had entered its airspace in an isolated area near the border with Ukraine. President Nico Dan said in a post on Facebook that the drone was shot down by a Romanian pilot with an F-16 aircraft.
This action took place on Saturday when a drone was shot down near Padina, north-east of Romania’s capital Bucharest on Friday. Several incidents of drone incursions by Russia and Ukraine have occurred in Romania and other NATO member states since Moscow launched a large-scale attack on Ukraine in February 2022.
In June, a Ukrainian maritime drone exploded over the Black Sea port of Constanta, while three other maritime drones exploded outside the port. No one was injured in this. A Russian drone involved in an attack on Ukraine in May went off course and crashed into an apartment building in eastern Romania, injuring two people.
