Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned from his post on Saturday (July 25) amid the controversy over NEET paper leak. In his place, Prahlad Joshi has now been given the responsibility of the Education Ministry. Joshi’s first statement after assuming additional charge has come out. He has said that he will fulfill this responsibility well. He said that he will try to fulfill his responsibilities with full humility and duty.
After taking charge of the Education Ministry, Prahlad Joshi expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that the PM has expressed confidence in him and entrusted him with an important responsibility. He thanked the PM for this and said that under the guidance of the Prime Minister, he will fulfill the responsibilities of the Education Ministry with full dedication and will try to live up to the expectations of the people. Joshi said that he will fulfill this responsibility with full dedication, humility and honesty.
Praise for Dharmendra Pradhan’s work
Along with this, Prahlad Joshi also praised the tenure of former Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. He credited Pradhan for implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) and said that many important initiatives have been taken in the education sector in recent years. He said that in the last four to five years, under the leadership of Pradhan, the National Education Policy was implemented and many important initiatives were taken in the field of education. He said that the country has made significant progress in the field of new education system.

Along with assuming the additional responsibility of the Education Ministry, Prahlad Joshi will also continue the work of his existing ministries. He is currently holding the responsibility of Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. Joshi is an MP from Dharwad Lok Sabha seat of Karnataka.
Dharmendra Pradhan resigns amid student protests
Dharmendra Pradhan resigned from his post on Saturday amid protests by students over alleged irregularities in the NEET exam. In his resignation letter sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said that he has taken this step in the interest of the students. In the letter shared on social media, he said that the situation in Jantar Mantar and other parts of the country should not be used by anti-national forces. He said that the unity of the country should be maintained and the future of any student of India should not be entangled in legal disputes.
CJP ended the movement after 49 days
Meanwhile, Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) also ended its agitation which was going on for the last 49 days at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. The movement was called off after the resignation of the Education Minister and assurance from the government that it would withdraw the cases registered against the protesters and organizers.
Talk took place between CJP and government
This decision was taken after three rounds of talks between the CJP delegation and the government. Government representatives including Union Minister JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh participated in these meetings. CJP chief spokesperson Saurav Das said that the movement has been withdrawn on the basis of goodwill. The organization hopes that the government will implement the consensus reached in the talks within the stipulated time frame.
