A big update has come out amid the ongoing war between Iran and America. US President Donald Trump has decided to stop the ongoing military attacks against Iran for the time being. After carrying out air strikes every day for 13 consecutive days, on Friday, for the first time, Trump ordered the US Army not to launch new attacks. It is believed that this decision has been taken to take forward the talks with Iran. This claim has been made in a report by American news channel Axios.
According to the report, on Friday a delegation from Oman reached Iran’s capital Tehran. During this, talks were held between the two countries regarding the complete reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important maritime trade routes. Sources say that good progress has been made in the talks. An agreement can be reached between Oman and Iran by the weekend. After this, President Trump will decide whether to accept this proposal or not. Although America has not launched new air strikes at present, its army is fully prepared. If President Trump gives orders in the future, the US Army can start military operations again in a very short time. That means the attacks have only been stopped, not completely eliminated.
Will there be relief in oil prices?
Experts believe that if the Strait of Hormuz reopens, crude oil prices may soften. For India, oil prices matter because India imports 80 percent of its oil needs from abroad. In such a situation, the possibility of peace in the Middle East may cause a fall in oil prices. The Strait of Hormuz is one of the most important sea routes in the world, from where about 20 percent of the world’s oil and energy is supplied. Crude oil prices remain above $100 per barrel. This is the first time since May that oil prices have reached this level. It is being told that crude oil has become costlier by 10 percent last week.
The way for dialogue and agreement is open
According to the report, every day for the last two weeks, US military officials were presenting attack plans to Trump and action was taken on them within a few hours. But on Friday, when the army proposed new action, Trump did not approve it and directed to stop the attacks. Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said that America has the full capability to carry out even bigger attacks on Iran. He said that if necessary, America can completely destroy Iran’s military power. However, he believes that dialogue and compromise is a better way than war.
What is the situation in Hormuz?
Trump said, “We are currently negotiating with Iran. I think they are being more serious than ever before. Our military is fully prepared, but negotiations are still ongoing.” Meanwhile, Iran’s Health Ministry spokesperson Hussein Kermanpour wrote on social media platform X, “The night was peaceful in Iran.” At the same time, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) also did not announce any new military action like in the last 13 days. However, tension still persists in the region regarding Hormuz and the situation has not completely returned to normal.
