Outcry due to flood in Assam, RSS and Seva Bharati took charge, saved more than 200 people

Heavy rains have caused devastation in the upper parts of Assam. Many villages have been submerged in water due to floods. The situation has gone from bad to worse. Sivasagar, Golaghat, Jorhat and Charaideo districts have been most affected by the floods. Thousands of families are facing acute shortage of food, water, shelter and medical aid.

In this hour of crisis, workers of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Seva Bharti have extended a helping hand. Workers are carrying out relief and rescue operations in many areas. These workers are helping people in every possible way. His tireless efforts are proving why RSS is said to be ready for selfless service.

The flood affected Betbari area includes Kakati village, D-village, No. 2 Kunwar village and Chetiya Kaivarta village. Here the volunteers conducted a rescue operation and took more than 200 people to relief camps and safe places. Giving priority to the elderly, women, children and sick people, the workers are rescuing them from the flood waters and taking them to safe places.

Volunteers are reaching the submerged houses with the help of small boats and delivering essential items to the people trapped there. Many such pictures have come to light in which these people are standing firm even in difficult situations and are helping people.

Relief operations are also going on in remote areas like Sunder Pukhuri, Bamun Pukhuri, Geleki and Rajabari of Sivasagar district. Where volunteers are delivering cooked food, clean drinking water, medicines, clothes and other essential items to the families trapped in the flood.

Relief material has also been distributed in Alengamora, Katiram Chuk, Kulai Chuk, Nalia Chuk, Senchowa Chuk and Charigharia Chuk of Jorhat district. This includes tarpaulin, biscuits, candles, mosquito repellent coils, soap, alum and other items of daily need.

Service to man is service to Narayan

RSS volunteers say that this campaign to help the flood affected families is not just disaster relief, this human service is the living spirit of Narayan Seva. Amidst the flood waters and difficulties, these volunteers are providing help to countless families of Upper Assam.
