The CBI, which is investigating the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case, has made a big revelation in a Delhi court. The agency said that 136 handwritten chemistry questions were found from the mobile phone of an arrested coaching center operator from Latur. Of these, 111 questions exactly match the original question paper of NTA. CBI gave this information in its reply filed in the court opposing the bail plea of the accused.
According to CBI, these questions were recovered from the mobile phone of Shivraj Motegaonkar. Shivraj runs Renukai Chemistry Classes in Latur, Maharashtra and also operates a YouTube channel named ‘Motegaonkar Sir’s RCC’, which has around 1.68 lakh subscribers.
What is CBI’s claim?
According to the agency, investigation has revealed that co-accused Aditya Motegaonkar had participated in the special class of co-accused PV Kulkarni. The investigating agency alleges that leaked chemistry questions were made available in these classes. After this Aditya prepared handwritten notes of those questions. During the investigation, 36 photographs (of which 5 were duplicates) were recovered from Shivraj Motegaonkar’s mobile. In these, 132 handwritten chemistry questions were found, which were prima facie found to be in the handwriting of Shivraj Motegaonkar. CBI told the court that in the preliminary investigation, about 111 questions match the master question set of NEET-UG 2026 prepared by NTA.
The questions are from two weeks before the exam
According to CBI, the capture date of these photographs present in the mobile is 23 April 2026 while the NEET-UG 2026 exam was held on 3 May 2026. That means these questions were present in the mobile about two weeks before the exam. CBI claims that Shivraj Motegaonkar had received these questions in the Siddhivinayak Hospital premises of Latur. This hospital is run by the city’s pediatrician Dr. Manoj Shirure. The investigating agency alleges that the question papers were leaked by NTA panel member and translator P.V. Kulkarni.
Allegation of selling through telegram for Rs 10 lakh
According to CBI, PDF files of leaked question papers were sold through Telegram for Rs 10 lakh. The agency also claimed that a ‘guess paper’ of about 150 pages, containing 410 questions, was distributed among some candidates several weeks before the examination. According to CBI, about 120 questions from this guess paper were asked in the Chemistry exam of NEET-UG 2026.
13 arrests so far
CBI said that so far 13 people have been arrested in this case. These include teachers and students. The arrests have been made from Delhi, Jaipur, Gurugram, Nashik, Pune, Latur and Ahilyanagar. More than 22.7 lakh candidates had appeared in the NEET-UG examination held on May 3 this year. NTA had canceled the examination on 12 May 2026 after allegations of paper leak surfaced.
