
Under Delhi Government’s Sarkar Aapke Dwar campaign, Public Works and Water Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh on Saturday toured various areas of East Delhi extensively and conducted on-site inspection of the development works. During this, Chief Whip and Laxmi Nagar MLA Abhay Verma, Patparganj MLA Ravindra Singh Negi, Trilokpuri MLA Ravikant and Shahdara MLA Sanjay Goyal, senior officers, engineers and public representatives were also present with him.
The Minister reviewed the progress of various projects, interacted with local citizens and took stock of the work being done for permanent solution of civic problems pending for years.
Minister visited Jhilmil Underpass
During the inspection, the Minister visited Patparganj Highway and Jhilmil Underpass, which have long been known as major sites of waterlogging during monsoon. on this occasion Parvesh Sahib Singh Said that after Minto Bridge, if pictures and videos of any place in Delhi were seen the most every rain, then it was this area of Patparganj, where pictures of buses submerged in water had become a common thing.
He said that due to well-planned action planning, better coordination of various departments and constant monitoring, remarkable changes are being seen here today. During the inspection, he reviewed the drainage system, cleaning of drains and various engineering works done for permanent solution to the problem of waterlogging.
Addressing local citizens and officials, the Minister said that the development works pending for the last 10, 15 and even 20 years are now being completed rapidly in mission mode by the Public Works Department (PWD), Delhi Jal Board (DJB), Irrigation and Flood Control Department and other engineering agencies. He said that local MLAs also have an important role in this change, who are continuously conveying the problems and suggestions of the public to the government.
Modern skywalk will be built at Laxmi Nagar intersection
The Minister announced that a modern skywalk will soon be constructed at the busy intersection of Laxmi Nagar, which will increase the safety of pedestrians and make traffic flow more seamless.
During the inspection, various MLAs also put forth the need for construction of precast storm water drains in their respective assembly constituencies. On this, the minister said that the Delhi government is rapidly expanding the precast drain technology to make the drainage system more strong. This technology ensures construction with better quality in less time and also improves rain water drainage capacity. Local citizens also welcomed this initiative and expressed satisfaction over the government’s efforts towards a permanent solution.
