Lock, welding, force… how many more efforts at Jantar Mantar, tight security before the third round of talks

Today is the 36th day of demonstration at Jantar Mantar under the leadership of Cockroach Janata Party. A large number of students are still gathered at Jantar Mantar demanding removal of paper leak and shortcomings in the education system. In such a situation, security has been increased around Jantar Mantar. Delhi Police has installed additional barricades which have been linked together with strong chains and further strengthened by welding.

According to officials, for security, instructions have been given to send 10 more CRPF companies from Chhattisgarh to Delhi by air. According to news agency PTI report, about 150 companies of CAPF will be deployed in Delhi in the next few days. There are about 100 soldiers in a company of CAPF. Officials said that about 100 such companies are already helping the local police in maintaining law and order in Delhi.

18 DCPs will be deployed

Delhi Police has completely changed the security arrangements of Jantar Mantar and now 18 DCPs will be deployed for the security of the protest site and surrounding routes. Each route will be monitored by a separate district police. This decision has been taken after a meeting with Home Minister Amit Shah. Special CP will monitor the entire operation. There will be special focus on crowd control and traffic. The strategy has been changed after the attack on the police. The crime branch is investigating the allegations of pellet gun use. Delhi Police has formed a special STF on the paper leak. This will tighten the noose on the recruitment exam mafia.

18 metro stations will remain closed even today

Due to security concerns regarding the ongoing Cockroach Janata Party protest near Jantar Mantar, 18 metro stations of Central Delhi will remain closed on Saturday also. This information has been given by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). This will be the fourth consecutive day that metro stations will be closed due to security arrangements. DMRC said that these stations will remain closed for passengers from 7.30 am on Saturday till further orders. However, metro interchange facility will be available for passengers at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House and Central Secretariat stations.

The stations that remain closed include Lok Kalyan Marg, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, Barakhamba Road, Supreme Court, Seva Tirtha, Janpath, Mandi House, Central Secretariat, ITO, Delhi Gate, Indraprastha, Khan Market, Jor Bagh, Shivaji Stadium, New Delhi and Jhandewalan. In view of the huge crowd gathering in the protests taking place in Jantar Mantar and surrounding areas for the last few days, the administration has made tight security arrangements in Central Delhi.

Liquor shops will open till 8 pm on weekends

In view of the protests by students, instructions have been given to keep all liquor shops in Delhi open only till 8 pm on weekends. The early closure of shops without prior notice on Thursday left many people disappointed as they had to return due to non-availability of liquor. Liquor shops in Delhi usually close at 10 pm.

A senior Delhi government official said, now shops will be open only till 8 pm till weekends. This decision has been taken on the basis of information received from the police regarding the current situation due to the ongoing protests at Jantar Mantar.
