Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress Party (TMC), which suffered defeat in the West Bengal elections, is facing constant setbacks from her close ones. Kalyan Banerjee, who is considered among Mamata’s most special people, also seems to be rebelling. TMC MP Kalyan launched a strong attack on Abhishek Banerjee on Thursday. He alleged that Mamata’s nephew removed him as his lawyer at the last moment in the signature forgery case, which I found very “insulting”.
TMC MP and one of Mamata’s most important leaders, Kalyan Banerjee, who stood firmly with party chief Mamata despite many leaders leaving the party in recent times, but today he also gave an ultimatum to the party chief and said, “Either choose us or choose Abhishek.”

Kalyan Banerjee, who is known for his outspokenness, said, “Abhishek is very arrogant. The entire party got destroyed because of this. Even in 2022, I had raised questions about his behaviour, then no one came with me and somehow I was saved.” He further said, “Now the limit has been reached. Mamata Banerjee will have to decide whether she chooses Abhishek Banerjee or a worker like me.” Kalyan made it clear that now it is decided that as long as Abhishek remains in the party, I will not remain in the party.
Interim relief to Abhishek from High Court
Meanwhile, Calcutta High Court on Thursday granted interim protection from arrest to Abhishek Banerjee in the signature forgery case. However, he was also directed to appear before the CID team of West Bengal by 6 pm today.
Earlier today, Kalyan Banerjee himself was going to fight Abhishek’s case in the High Court, but he did not come to the court. Then Kalyan and his son Shrishanya Banerjee have distanced themselves from Abhishek’s case. However, he later claimed that he was removed from the case at the last moment.
I am still with Mamata: Kalyan
Expressing disappointment, Kalyan said, “I am still with Mamata, but now she will have to choose. This is very humiliating for me. At midnight I was told that the lawyer in the case has been changed. She does not know how to respect elders. Abhishek has never trusted me and will never trust me. Who is he? He is a very egoistic person. Because of him, the party has been ruined.”
He claimed that he was present there when CID raided his and Mamata Banerjee’s residence in connection with alleged manipulation in TMC’s signature forgery case. He had also raised the question as to why the investigating agency had brought with it two witnesses, whom he claimed were associated with the BJP.
