
India Test Squad Update For Sri Lanka Test Series: After the end of the T20 series against Zimbabwe, the entire focus of the Indian cricket team is now on the two-Test red-ball series against Sri Lanka starting from August 15. This series is very important for India to remain in the race for the final of the World Test Championship. However, just before the selection of a strong 15-member team by the selectors, the fitness of many important players of Team India has raised concerns.
Suspense on Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness
Jasprit Bumrah, who is considered the backbone of Indian bowling, is not considered certain yet to play in the Test matches against Sri Lanka. According to reports, Bumrah suffered a knee injury during the third ODI against England and he is not yet 100% fit. BCCI has advised Bumrah to take complete rest till July 30. After this, he will report to the National Cricket Academy for the last stage of his recovery, where the final decision on his return will be taken only after getting the green signal from the medical team of doctors.
Due to injury, the path of these players also became difficult
Apart from Bumrah, four more players of the Indian team are also suffering from fitness problems, due to which the problems of team management have increased. It includes important players like Washington Sundar, Sai Sudarshan, Harshit Rana and Nitish Kumar Reddy. This Test series is very important for India, which is ranked fifth in the points table of the World Test Championship. In such a situation, injuries to many star players have further increased the challenge of team selection before the opening test.
How serious is which player’s injury?
- Washington Sundar: Sundar’s hamstring was stretched in the second ODI against England. According to reports, due to this injury he will not be available for the first test match, while playing in the second test will depend on his recovery and fitness.
- Sai Sudarshan: Recently, young batsman Sai Sudarshan got injured during India-A’s tour of Sri Lanka. Although not much has been revealed about his injury, but he is recovering fast and his availability also depends on the fitness test.
- Harshit Rana: It is considered certain that Harshit Rana will be out of the Sri Lanka Test series due to hamstring injury. He had just returned from the UK tour after recovering from injury. But he has once again got injured.
- Nitish Kumar Reddy: It is believed that all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy will also not be available for selection for this series due to quads injury, which can prove to be a big blow for Team India.
