If FIR is not withdrawn then there will be agitation… CJP’s ultimatum to the government, Kapil Sibal in support of students

July 27, 2026 by Uma Shankar

After the protests at Jantar Mantar ended, the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP) is now trying to get the cases registered against the students withdrawn. CJP spokesperson Saurav Das said that the party had withdrawn its protest on July 25 after the government accepted their demands. But the government has not yet withdrawn the cases registered against the students. On this, CJP has given an ultimatum to the government and warned of starting the movement again.

Saurav Das said, “We had withdrawn our protest on July 25 with good intentions. The government had assured us that all the cases registered against the protesters would be withdrawn. We feared that people would be targeted after the protest is over, and that is actually what is happening. CJP has sought advice from senior lawyer Kapil Sibal in this matter.”

To this, Kapil Sibal said, “We have decided to provide legal help to the students in all the places where cases have been registered against them. I will personally contribute ₹1 crore for the legal fight and urge others to contribute as well. It seems that Delhi Police wants to target people by using facial recognition technology, and an attempt is also being made to give a communal color to the case. There should be no action against the protesters,” Kapil Sibal said. However, if this happens, we will help as per law.”

People of specific community are being targeted

CJP’s legal advisor, Ratna, said that protesters are being detained in Delhi and other states and the organization is coming forward to help them. 11 people were detained in Kolkata, out of which 10 are Muslims. The police is targeting a particular community. Maximum FIRs are being registered in Bihar. A case of attempt to murder has been registered in Patna. He has appealed to the lawyers of all the states to come forward and help.

CJP appealed to the people

The CJP announced the launch of a website and invited people to join the initiative so that lawyers can stand up for youth who are being targeted. He has created a platform named ‘Sakshi’. CJP has appealed to please send any photo or video of harassment by police or security forces to the handle ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (Sakshi) so that legal action can be taken.

CJP warned of agitation again

CJP has said that if the government does not give the draft to withdraw the FIR by tomorrow, then he will be forced to start another movement. CJP spokesperson Saurav Das said that he has taken the help of senior advocate Kapil Sibal because several PILs (public interest litigations) were being filed against him. He said that if the government does not give a written agreement by tomorrow or if people are detained then CJP will come forward to protest again.

Will help CJP

At the same time, Kapil Sibal made it clear that he is supporting them only to protect their legal rights and the group itself will decide what to do next. Their sole objective is to ensure that no injustice is done to those who raise their voice against wrongdoing.
