Hours of waiting, long queues… Now these special arrangements are being made for the food of the devotees in Tirupati temple.

July 21, 2026 by Uma Shankar

There is a huge temple of Lord Sri Venkateswara Swamy i.e. Balaji in Tirumala, located in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, where devotees flock in droves for darshan. Meanwhile, temple trust Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) has started a new technology to provide better and faster facilities to the devotees coming for darshan. In fact, a food serving conveyor system has been started on an experimental basis to provide food and beverages to the devotees who wait in queues for hours.

On normal days and during peak hours, more than one lakh devotees wait in queues several kilometers long to have darshan of Lord Venkateshwara. At present, the TTD (Fasting Centre) is distributing Anna Prasad in about 3.5 km long queues from Octopus Building to Krishna Teja Guest House from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm. Around 100 Srivari Sevakools are distributing milk, buttermilk, water, upma, pulihora, sambaranam and tomato rice to the devotees every day.

However, to facilitate the distribution of Prasad with the help of machines, this ‘mobile food system’ has been made available with the help of donors. Presently, TTD officials are pilot testing the operation of this food delivery device at Gate 45 near Shila Toranam. Srivari Sewakulu is easily distributing Prasad to the devotees with the help of this device. If it is successful, it will be implemented in more areas.

If the effort is successful then money will be made available

If the testing of this food serving conveyor, built at a cost of about Rs 35 lakh, is successful, TTD is planning to install such conveyors at other major places also. Officials believe that with the use of machines, food items will be provided to the devotees easily and quickly.
