Bhumi Pednekar made her Bollywood debut in the year 2015 with the film ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’. However, before this she had worked as a casting assistant in the casting department of Yash Raj Films (YRF) for about 6 years. At that time she never thought that she would act in films herself. His entire focus was only on casting new artists.

When the search was going on for the role of Sandhya for ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’, the team of casting director Shanu Sharma was auditioning about 200 to 250 girls. Bhumi was also a part of this team and used to take auditions of other girls throughout the day. During this time, he also got a chance to audition for the same character. During the day she would audition others and in the evening she herself would audition in front of the camera. Eventually the makers finalized Bhumi for the same role.

In an interview, Bhumi had told that she never thought that she would become an actress.
