Brazil football planning match in India: A very good news is coming for Indian football fans. The world’s most popular and 5-time world champion Brazil football team can visit India in October. According to the report of ESPN Brazil, the Brazilian Football Association (CBF) is in talks with the organizers to play a friendly match in India in early October.
Kolkata can witness a historic match
Kolkata, the city known as the Mecca of football, is likely to host this proposed match. According to reports, initial talks between CBF and the organizers regarding this match had started during the 2026 FIFA World Cup held in America. However, it is not yet clear whether the five-time world champion team will face the Indian national team or any other international team.
Brazil’s 3-match international window plan
FIFA’s international window is scheduled to take place between 21 September and 6 October. During this period, the Brazilian team is planning to play a total of three matches. In which a plan is being made to hold 2 matches in Australia and 1 match in India.
- 25 September: Match in Townsville, Australia.
- 29 September: Second match in Brisbane, Australia.
- Early October: Third friendly match in India.
The Brazilian Football Association had also considered playing the fourth match in Bangladesh during this period, but keeping in mind the players’ fatigue, travel time and preparations, the intention to play four matches has been postponed. Talks were also held with Singapore but no agreement could be reached, after which Kolkata’s claim is considered to be the strongest.
Kolkata’s old relationship with Brazil
Kolkata has a very historical relationship with Brazilian football. The great football legend Pele played a historic match against Mohun Bagan at Eden Gardens in 1977 while playing for New York Cosmos. After this he also came to Kolkata in 2015.
