Meanwhile, investigation by Delhi Police has revealed that wrong information is being spread by some social media accounts and Pakistani handles are involved in it.
Delhi Police held a press conference on Saturday (July 25) regarding misleading and incorrect information related to the protests taking place at Jantar Mantar. During this, DCP (Central) Rohit Rajbir Singh said that protests have been going on at Jantar Mantar for the last several weeks under the banner of ‘Cockroach Janata Party’. He said that during this time, social media, especially Instagram, is being used on a large scale. He said that information goes viral very quickly on social media.

‘False and misleading posts were shared’
He said that many false, misleading and misleading posts were shared during the protest. He said that due to this, law and order is also adversely affected. He said that it is very important to fact check any post before trusting it and before sharing it further. He said that Delhi Police is continuously monitoring social media.
‘Attempt to spread fake narrative’
He said that the police are continuously sharing information about fake news, AI, deep fake videos and edited clips and misleading posts through their social media handles so that people can know about true and false information. He said that efforts are being made to spread wrong and fake narratives on social media.
‘More than 400 handles identified’
Rohit Rajbir Singh said that investigation has revealed that some social media accounts being run from Pakistan are spreading wrong information. He said that Delhi Police is continuously working with the concerned agencies to identify more such accounts. He told that till now more than 400 such handles have been identified.
‘Officers’ statements were edited’
He told that these social media have been blocked because they were spreading AI generated content, deepfake videos, edited photos and other misinformation related to the protests. He said that even during ‘Operation Sindoor’, some such handles were found active in spreading misinformation. He said that these social media accounts tried to mislead people by editing the official statements of many senior officials and manipulating the visual content.

‘Woman’s death was falsely claimed’
Rohit Rajbir Singh told that a false claim of the woman’s death was made on social media. Whereas Sonam Wangchuk’s fake video was made viral. He said that investigation revealed that some social media accounts being run from Pakistan were spreading misinformation. He said that Pakistani handles are provoking people. Students are being misled by posting face. He appealed to the people not to believe in wrong information.
