Congress said – BJP is wrongly gathering two-thirds majority, will oppose the delimitation bill in Parliament

July 16, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Delimitation Bill 2026: Congress will oppose the delimitation bill in the monsoon session of Parliament. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh gave this information in a press conference on Thursday. He said that BJP is wrongly gathering two-third majority. India Block will together oppose this. If reservation is given to one third of the existing number of women, we will support it.

This decision was taken in the meeting of the Congress Parliamentary Party. Congress said that we are in touch with all the opposition parties. BJP is cleverly trying to get two-thirds majority. But it cannot get two-thirds majority in the Lok Sabha. BJP’s two-thirds majority will be a tainted majority.

Even after vandalism, BJP does not have two-thirds majority: Congress

Jairam Ramesh further said that even after so much sabotage in the Lok Sabha, they do not have two-thirds majority. We will raise important issues like donation theft, paper leak, case of senior BJP leader and his son in E20 ethanol scam, deal with America, foreign policy etc. together with India Block. He said that Supriya Sule has denied the news yesterday evening. Supriya had said yesterday i.e. on Wednesday that only if the condition of increasing 50 percent seats is implemented, her party will consider supporting it.

The Congress leader further said that wrong news is being cultivated in the media regarding the two-third majority. We refute it. We are also in touch with DMK and AAP on the issue of two-third majority. We are in touch with everyone who was with us on 17th April.

Ramesh said that Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan should resign. We are continuously demanding this. He said that today I can say with confidence that the government is far away from two-thirds majority. DMK will not support BJP on this issue. JPC report on One Nation One Election is to be submitted by August 10, but it is anti-constitutional. Whatever the report, we will oppose it on principle.
