BSP engaged in 2027 mission: Mayawati hands over election command to Akash Anand, will start campaign from Hathras

July 29, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Assembly elections are going to be held in Uttar Pradesh next year (2027), for which all the political parties have started preparations. Along with the election strategy, brainstorming on seat sharing has also started. At the same time, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has also intensified its preparations. Party supremo Mayawati has decided to field her nephew and party’s national convenor Akash Anand in the election field.

According to the information, Akash Anand will start the party’s election campaign from Sadabad assembly of Hathras district on August 10. As per the party’s strategy, Akash will announce the name of the assembly in-charge in Sadabad and after that he will address the meeting of workers and officials.

Emphasis on party strength

BSP plans to speed up the election campaign with the announcement of in-charges at the assembly level across the state. Under this, Akash Anand will continuously hold public meetings and organizational meetings in various districts and strengthen the party.

The declining graph of the party has become a cause for concern.

BSP leadership believes that after the absolute majority government in 2007, the party is continuously facing electoral challenges. In such a situation, in view of the 2027 elections, work is being done on a strategy to strengthen the organization afresh and re-unite its traditional vote bank. In this series, Akash Anand has been made the main face of the election campaign.

Avin Sharma’s name may be announced

According to sources, Avin Sharma’s name can be announced as the party candidate (Assembly in-charge) from Sadabad Assembly on August 10. BSP first announces the assembly in-charges and declares them as official candidates after the election notification is issued.

Public meeting in Jewar on 25th August

According to the party’s programme, after Sadabad, a big public meeting of Akash Anand is also proposed in Jewar on 25th August. The BSP leadership hopes that this campaign starting under the leadership of Akash Anand will infuse new energy into the organization and strengthen the party’s preparations for the 2027 assembly elections.

Sadabad assembly seat equation

If we talk about the electoral equation of Sadabad assembly seat of Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh, here Jat, Brahmin and Muslim voters mainly decide the victory or defeat. Sadabad is a Hindu-majority constituency, where Jats are considered most influential and their role is most important in electoral victory.

Assembly elections have been held 17 times so far

So far, assembly elections have been held 17 times on Sadabad assembly seat. Congress won this seat five times. Apart from this, Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) has won this seat thrice, BJP and Janata Dal have won this seat twice each. Whereas independent candidates, Bharatiya Kranti Party (BKD), Janata Party, Lok Dal, Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) have won once each. In the last three elections, three different parties have won this seat.
