The political turmoil has intensified after the results of the first phase of assembly elections in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz rejected the allegations of rigging leveled against her by Pakistan Peoples Party headed Bilaw Bhutto Zardari and said that PPP should accept its defeat with an open heart.
While releasing the video, Maryam Nawaz said that nothing will be achieved by crying. Pakistan People’s Party should accept its defeat with an open heart. He said that the decision in elections is taken by the people, not the state. Those making allegations of rigging have their own records linked to election irregularities.
Before Maryam Nawaz’s statement, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had raised questions on the fairness of the elections held in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. He had said that PPP candidates should have got majority on the basis of public votes and support, but serious questions have been raised on the electoral process.
PML-N won nine seats
Bilawal also said that the state will have to decide whether the national interest is more important or the interest of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). According to preliminary results, in the elections held in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, PML-N has won nine seats, while PPP has won four seats out of total 13 seats in Mirpur region.
Maryam Nawaz said – no evidence of irregularities in elections
Maryam Nawaz termed the allegations of rigging as baseless and said that there is no evidence of any kind of election irregularities against PML-N candidates. He said that to strengthen democracy, all political parties should respect the people’s mandate. PPP should review its performance and introspect.
Maryam Nawaz made these allegations against Bilawal Bhutto’s party
Taking aim at PPP, Maryam Nawaz said that Pakistan Peoples Party has been in power in Sindh for the last 17 years. Despite this, the party could not improve basic facilities like cleanliness, law and order and roads. Maryam alleged that Bilawal failed to enumerate the achievements of the Sindh government or present any clear roadmap for the future in his election campaign.
Pakistan government ministers also targeted Bilawal
Maryam Nawaz said that her government wants better health facilities and development for the people in Pakistan occupied Kashmir. Respecting the mandate given to PML-N, their government will fulfill the promises made to the people. On the other hand, Pakistan’s Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal also termed the allegations of PPP rigging as undemocratic and unfair. Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhary has also described PML-N’s victory as a clear mandate of the people.
