The 11th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog will be held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 11 at 11 am in the Cultural Center of Rashtrapati Bhavan. The main theme of the meeting has been kept as “Inclusive Human Development for Developed India @2047”. Chief Ministers of states, administrators of union territories and senior officials will be included in this. In the meeting, there will be special discussion on four major pillars to accelerate human development. These four key pillars will be:
• Strong human capital and future-proof skills development,
• Employment and entrepreneurship based decentralized development,
•Health, nutrition and well-being, and
•Equality and dignity for all.
According to the agenda prepared by NITI Aayog, early childhood education, school education, skill development, higher education and sports and co-curricular activities have been kept as five major sub-themes of human capital formation in the meeting. These topics have been decided on the basis of the consensus reached in the National Conference of Chief Secretaries held in December 2025. In the meeting, Chief Ministers of States and Heads of Union Territories will be given only seven minutes to present their views.
Monitoring via on-screen timer
These presentations will be monitored through an on-screen timer. In this, long written presentations will be considered automatically “read”. States have been asked to lay special emphasis on data governance, implementation of schemes and use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in local administration.
The progress of 136 work points emerging from the fifth national conference of Chief Secretaries will also be reviewed. Of these, work on 11 points has been completely or substantially completed, while work is underway on 77 points and preliminary action has been initiated on 47. These are being monitored through a dedicated online portal.
The strategy of integration of Anganwadi and schools is also included in the major agenda of the meeting. According to UDISE+ 2024-25, 2.9 lakh Anganwadi centers are operating in school campuses across the country, while in the financial year 2025-26, about 30 thousand new centers have also been connected to school campuses. Its objective is to improve the enrollment and transition rates of children into formal schools.
The progress of ‘Pankhuri Portal’, launched in January 2026 to strengthen the Anganwadi structure, will also be a topic of discussion in the meeting. This portal connects the corporate sector, NGOs and NRIs for the upgradation of Anganwadi centres. Till now, CSR commitments have been received for about 70 thousand Anganwadi centres.
The reduction in child malnutrition will also be presented as an achievement in the meeting. This will take place between November 2025 and April 2026.
- Stunting reduced from 32.92 percent to 29.73 percent,
- Underweight reduced from 14.03 percent to 12.23 percent and
- Wasting has decreased from 4.81 percent to 4.07 percent.
The main reason for this is considered to be the establishment of area-specific nutrition schemes and about 19,500 new nutrition gardens.
‘Added to tracker system’
Under digital integration, Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) ID and APAAR ID have been linked to the nutrition tracker system. At present, ABHA IDs of 42.8 percent beneficiaries and APAAR IDs of 28.6 percent have been created. At the same time, the progress of the Pradhan Mantri Janman (PM JANMAN) scheme being run especially for vulnerable tribal groups (PVTGs) will also be reviewed. Of the 2,498 Anganwadi centers sanctioned under the scheme, 2,486 centers are in operation, construction of 596 buildings has been completed and 734 buildings are under construction.
This meeting of NITI Aayog is being considered important to strengthen coordination between the states and the Center to achieve the goal of Developed India 2047 and to prepare a concrete action plan in the field of human development.
