Delhi’s Jantar Mantar has been in the headlines for the last few days. Social activist Sonam Wangchuk’s movement and Cockroach Janata Party founder Abhijit Deepke are on fast, due to which the political atmosphere is heated. This movement has received support from many political parties as well as many big personalities. Last Saturday, Sonam Wangchuk was forcibly admitted to the hospital by the police, on which many leaders had expressed their displeasure. On this issue, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray has made a scathing attack on the central government. He has openly supported this movement of students.
Uddhav Thackeray, while targeting the central government in Mumbai’s Shivaji Park on Sunday, said that the fight should be started now to change the government which is not accountable. He said that now the time has come to not just demand the resignation of the C Minister, but to fix the accountability of the entire government. He alleged that the government has failed to respond to the youth on issues like employment, quality education and inflation. He said that I am a patriot, not a blind devotee.
‘Pak is ready for talks, but not with Wangchuk’
Uddhav Thackeray said that the government is ready for talks with Pakistan but did not contact activist Sonam Wangchuk who is fasting in the interest of students. He said, ‘Recently RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale has stressed the need to keep the doors open for talks with Pakistan. The same Pakistan carries out terrorist attacks and helps in infiltration. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has supported this and said that we are not like Hitler. You tell this to Modi. You are ready for talks with Pakistan but not with Wangchuk.
‘The government has snatched away the future of the youth’
In his address, Thackeray said that a struggle should be launched to change a government which is not accountable. He said that this struggle is not just about activist Sonam Wangchuk, this government has snatched away the future of the youth. He said that this is not just a matter of theft of votes and donations, it is a matter of theft of the future.
‘Can never hide the truth’
He strongly criticized BJP for terming Wangchuk as anti-national. He told that this Wangchuk has made solar powered tents and solar power camps for the armed forces. He said that you can cover Sonam Wangchuk with a sheet, but you can never hide the truth. You cannot hide your sins behind the curtain at all.
Uddhav Thackeray’s appeal to the people
In his address, he said that this movement should not be limited to Jantar Mantar only, but should reach every corner of the country. During this, he appealed to the people and said that they should organize peaceful programs like meetings, torch march, human chain and candle march in their respective areas so that the government can hear the voice of the people. He said that just as people used to wear caps with the words ‘I am Anna’ during Anna Hazare’s movement, now people should come forward to protect democracy and the Constitution by writing ‘I am a patriot, not a blind devotee’.
