Union Minister Prahlad Joshi took charge of the Education Ministry on Sunday (July 26). He was given this responsibility after the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday. Pradhan had resigned from the post of Education Minister amid protests by students across the country and the ongoing agitation at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. After this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had given additional responsibility of Education Ministry to Prahlad Joshi. After taking charge of the ministry, Joshi expressed his gratitude to PM Modi.
While sharing a post on social media, Prahlad Joshi said, ‘Today I took over as the Union Education Minister. I am grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for reposing confidence in me and entrusting me with this responsibility. I accept it with humility and sense of duty. On this occasion he also held a meeting with the officials.

Big challenges before Prahlad Joshi
Prahlad Joshi is already handling the responsibility of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution. Now he will also take charge of the Education Ministry. The main challenges before them are improving the education system, making the examination process more transparent and strengthening the confidence of the students. The youth are continuously demanding improvement in the education system and transparency in the examination process.

Prahlad Joshi is one of the veteran and experienced leaders of BJP. He was born on 27 November 1962 in Vijaypur, Karnataka. He did his early studies in Hubli. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Sri Kadsiddheshwar Arts College. Before coming into politics, he was associated with business.

Prahlad Joshi has been associated with RSS for a long time. Talking about his political journey, he started politics from Dharwad district of Karnataka. He has been representing Dharwad Lok Sabha seat since 2004 and has won the Lok Sabha elections five times consecutively. He has been an MP for the last 22 years. Between 2019 and 2024, he held the responsibility of Parliamentary Affairs, Coal and Mines Ministry. After the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Prahlad Joshi was given the responsibility of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and New and Renewable Energy. Now he will take charge as the Education Minister.
